Rawhide Report for 6/19: San Jose 7, Visalia 2

The Fresno BeeJune 19, 2014

Rough relaunch: Visalia gave up four runs in the top of the ninth inning — highlighted by Elliott Blair's two-run single — as the San Jose Giants pulled away for a 7-2 victory Thursday night in the opener to the second half of the California League season.

Wasted effort: Rawhide starter Brandon Sinnery (7-5) was a tough-luck loser after allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks over seven innings.

Bottom of the lineup delivers: Nos. 8-9 hitters — Brandon Jacobs and Ronnie Freeman — had consecutive run-scoring singles in the fifth for Visalia's only runs.

Up next: Visalia LH Spencer Arroyo (4-3, 3.16 ERA) is scheduled to face RH Pat Young (5-2, 5.59) as the series continues at 7 p.m. Friday.
