Selma man killed in head-on crash

A 36-year-old Selma man was killed Wednesday night in a head-on collision southwest of Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. as the driver was northbound on McMullin Grade in a Nissan Sentra south of Highway 145. Stanley D. Shoals, 55, of Fresno, was southbound on McMullin in a Chevrolet Malibu.

The Nissan driver drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with Shoals. The Nissan driver died at the scene. The Fresno County Coroner's Office identified the driver as Carlos Hernandez.

Shoals was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
