Selma man dies in head-on collision southwest of Fresno

A Selma man died in a head-on collision Wednesday night southwest of Fresno, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. The driver, identified as Carlos Hernandez, 36, was northbound in a Nissan Sentra on McMullin Grade, south of Highway 145. Stanley D. Shoals, 55, of Fresno was southbound on McMullin Grade in a Chevrolet Malibu. The CHP said the Nissan driver drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with Shoals.

The Nissan driver died at the scene. The Fresno County Coroner's Office identified the driver as Carlos Hernandez.

Shoals was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
