Rawhide Report for 6/17: Visalia stars help Cal League edge Carolina

Team effort: Visalia's Brandon Drury doubled and scored the first run, his All-Star teammates helped build the lead to 3-0 and a pitching staff that included the Rawhide's Enrique Burgos combined on a seven-hitter as the Cal League beat its Carolina League counterparts 3-2 on Tuesday night in Wilmington, Del.

Doing their part: Burgos, who leads Visalia in saves with 12, pitched a perfect seventh, striking out one. Drury went 1 for 2 on a night that saw the Cal League limited to four hits. Most of the offense came from Bakersfield's Kyle Waldrop, who was 2 for 3 with three RBIs including a two-run homer.

Up next: Visalia resumes the regular season at 7 p.m. Thursday against San Jose in the opener of a four-game series at Rawhide Ballpark.
