Fresno police issue crime alert for burglary scam

The Fresno Police Department issued a crime alert Tuesday for a burglary scam in northwest Fresno.

The scam involves a subject who approaches a homeowner asking to use a telephone, restroom or offering handyman work around the potential victim's house. While one individual has the homeowner distracted, another individual or individuals enters the house and steals small items such as credit cards, jewelry, etc. If the homeowner allows access, the home is also burglarized by the phony handyman.
