Fresno State outfielder Jordan Luplow was among a group of five draft picks whose signings were announced Tuesday by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
All were sent to Jamestown of the short-season Class-A New York-Penn League.
The now former Bulldog had announced his signing a day earlier via Twitter.
"Just signed my contract for the pirates. It's official! #pirates #bucnation #thegrind," Luplow wrote.
A third-rounder taken No. 100 overall, he agreed for slightly below slot value at $500,000, MLB.com reported, while passing up his senior season.
As a junior he hit .377 with nine homers and 48 RBIs, slugged .609 and posted a .475 on-base percentage en route to Mountain West Conference Player of the Year honors.
