Fresno police look for missing woman, 77

Fresno police are asking for the public's help to find a missing at-risk woman, Norma Jean Akers, 77, who disappeared from her assisted living center in east-central Fresno.

Akers left her residence at the Garden Manor on the 4900 block of East Olive Avenue at 10 a.m. Friday and has not returned.

Akers has heart and mental health problems and takes medication for these issues, police said. She is also experiencing the beginning stages of dementia.

Akers is described as white, about 5-foot 6-inches tall, weighing between 120 and 130 pounds, with gray/white hair and hazel eyes.

She is known to use the Fresno Area Express (FAX) buses and could be going to the area of Bullard and Fresno streets in northeast Fresno.
