Man who was seriously hurt in crash near Mendota has died

A man who was seriously injured in a crash last week near Mendota died late Thursday, the Fresno County Coroner's Office reported.

The man was identified as Pierre Jones, 57. No hometown was provided.

Jones was involved in a single-vehicle crash on June 6 while traveling northbound on Interstate 5, south of Manning Avenue, said California Highway Patrol.

Jones' vehicle flipped several times around 4:10 p.m. and came to a rest in the I-5 center median. He sustained major injuries and was flown to Community Regional Medical Center.
