Fresno police: 'Wannabe' Fresno gangster shot near Fresno State

Fresno police are looking for suspects who allegedly shot a self-proclaimed "wannabe" Fresno gang member walking near Fresno State on Friday night, said Lt. Joe Gomez.

The 17-year-old victim, who was not identified, was shot around 10 p.m. during a drive-by shooting in the area of Barstow and Millbrook avenues, Gomez said. The victim and his friends got into an argument with four men in a gray or silver sedan parked behind University Deli Liquor, Gomez said.

After the 17-year-old left the store, walking west on Barstow Avenue, the sedan drove close to him and a male with dreadlocks inside the car opened fire, striking him several times, Gomez said.

The teen was shot in the left forearm and abdomen. The wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, Gomez said.

Anyone with information about the suspects or shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP (7867). An anonymous tip leading to an arrest can result in a $1,000 reward.
