Rawhide Report for 6/13: Inland Empire 3, Visalia 1

The Fresno BeeJune 13, 2014

Stunner: Andrew Ray's two-run homer, just his second longball of the year, was the big blow in a three-run seventh as Inland Empire beat visiting Visalia 3-1 in a California League game Friday night.

Spoiled: Rawhide starter Braden Shipley saw his gem unravel. He got two outs in the seventh, then was chased by a single, the homer and a walk. He was charged with seven hits and two walks while striking out nine. Three 66ers pitchers combined on a five-hitter.

Up next: Visalia RH Aaron Blair (0-2, 4.58 ERA) faces RH Mark Sappington (1-3, 6.86) as the series and first half wraps up at 7:05 p.m. today. The four-day All-Star break follows, with the California and Carolina leagues squaring off Tuesday in Wilmington, Del.
