Members of the Fresno Teachers Association voted to ratify a proposed contract with the Fresno Unified School District by a margin of 1,499 to 259, the union announced Friday.
The agreement was ratified June 6 by union leadership and the district after a two-day meeting with a state mediator. Fresno Teachers Association Eva Ruiz said the new agreement provides a 2.7% raise for the 2013-14 school year plus a 3.5% raise effective July 1.
Ruiz said the contract will now be considered by the Fresno Unified school board, which has scheduled a vote for Wednesday.
"Teachers can finally focus on the next school year," she said. "I am proud of our members that turned out and participated in this process for the good of our community."
