The Fresno BeeJune 13, 2014

Fresno's Marc Castro advanced Friday to the 110-pound division final at USA Boxing's Junior Olympic National Championships in Charleston, W. Va.

Castro beat Rogelio Ortega of Pasadena 3-0 in a semifinal. Castro will face Los Angeles' Ruben Robles, a 3-0 winner over Pittsburgh's Ted Mrkonja, in Saturday's championship bout at the Charleston Civic Center.

A pair of defending Junior Olympic national champions -- Madera's Bryan Lua and Tulare's Richard Torrez -- saw their repeat bids stopped.

Lua was beaten 3-0 by Carlos Nava of Pasadena, Texas, in the 132-pound division. Torrez dropped a 2-1 decision to Devin Young of Aiken, S.C., at 176-plus.
