Volleyball: U.S. national team wins again, though Ferrari rests

The U.S. national women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in Pool B at the Pan American Cup with a 25-20, 25-14, 25-20 victory over Argentina on Thursday in Mexico City.

Chloe Ferrari, the former Buchanan High and University of San Diego star who had 10 kills and one block in an opening sweep of Colombia on Wednesday, did not play against Argentina. Regan Hood, a former Louisiana State star, led the U.S. with 11 kills and three blocks.

The U.S. faces Puerto Rico at 3 p.m. Friday and closes pool play with a match against Costa Rica at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Pan American Cup playoffs begin Tuesday, with the finals set for 6 p.m. June 19.
