A Chowchilla woman is accused of cashing stolen checks totaling nearly $3,000, Madera County Sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart said Thursday.

Natalie Hernandez, 29, cashed at least 10 checks while the victim, 69, was out of town, Stuart said. The checks came from a new box of checks that were apparently taken before the victim ever received them.
