A man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of two men near Reedley in early May was captured Wednesday evening by Fresno County sheriff's deputies, Sheriff Margaret Mims said.
Eloy Romero Jr., 25, was found after the sheriff's office received an anonymous tip that he was in Reedley. Detectives, with the help of the U.S. Marshal's Office, found him about 4:30 p.m. in a house near E and 9th streets. He tried to escape out the back door, but was caught and arrested, Mims said.
The two slain men were found dead from what seemed to be a car accident at Buttonwillow and Jefferson avenues May 12. But Fresno County Coroner David Hadden later found they actually had died of gunshot wounds.
The men were Joseph Blunt, 38, of Santa Clara, and George Duarte, 40, of Reedley.
Late Wednesday, Romero was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of two counts of homicide, Mims said.
