Volleyball: Ex-Buchanan High, USD star Chloe Ferrari helps lead U.S. to victory

Former Buchanan High and University of San Diego standout Chloe Ferrari had 10 kills and a block to help the U.S. women's national volleyball team open the Pan American Cup with a 25-19, 25-19, 30-28 victory over Colombia on Wednesday in Mexico City.

Ferrari started at middle blocker for the U.S., which continues action in Pool B at 5 p.m. Thursday against Argentina.

The U.S. faces Puerto Rico at 3 p.m. Friday, then closes out pool play at 5 p.m. Saturday against Costa Rica.

The playoffs begin Tuesday, with the final set for 6 p.m. June 19.
