A Fresno man stabbed his roommate in the back Wednesday evening for making too much noise while he was sleeping, Fresno police reported.

Police found the victim at CM Market in central Fresno on the corner of North College Avenue and East Belmont Avenue about 5:30 p.m. The man had a non-life threatening stab wound in his back, said Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez.

The victim said his roommate, Howard Ladwig, 62, stabbed him because he was making too much noise while Ladwig was trying to sleep. Ladwig stabbed him with a steak knife, and the victim ran to the market where police found him.

Police found Ladwig in his apartment in the 600 block of Van Ness Avenue and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Gomez said. He later was booked at Fresno County Jail.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center by ambulance and is in stable condition, Gomez said.
