Visalia's Self-Help chief takes job in Washington

Peter Carey of Visalia has been named acting chief operating officer of NeighborWorks America in Washington, D.C.

Carey is CEO of Self-Help Enterprises in Visalia, from which he will retire at the end of June.

NeighborWorks America is chartered by Congress to provide support and leadership to 235 community development organizations around the country.

Carey will oversees field operations, national initiatives, training and organizational assessment. The temporary position will last six to nine months, he said.
