Mariposa County fire chars 111 acres; 2 Fresno County fires near containment

Firefighters are battling a new blaze near Coulterville in Mariposa County, Cal Fire reported Tuesday.

The Haigh Fire began at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday at Highway 49 and Haigh Road. Wednesday morning, Cal Fire reported that it was 111 acres -- down from the 130 reported Tuesday night. Firefighters have it about 20% contained.

Meanwhile, firefighters are near containment on a fire along Highway 168 and Millerton Road in Fresno County. It's 95% contained. The Morgan Fire is expected to be fully contained by Wednesday morning. The fire started about 3:15 p.m. Monday and grew to 40 acres, Cal Fire officials say.

Firefighters also have nearly contained the Hall Fire near Squaw Valley, which charred 25 acres on Monday.

The fire at Highway 180 and Hall Lane started about 8 a.m. Monday and also is 95% contained, according to Cal Fire reports.
