Vacant Visalia duplex catches fire

An early morning attic fire in Visalia caused $5,000 damage to an apartment, the Visalia Fire Department said Monday.

About 2:55 a.m. Monday, firefighters were called to a blaze in the 2800 block of West James Avenue in southwest Visalia. They found smoke coming out roof vents of a vacant single-story duplex, and put out a fire in the attic.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
