A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his father Friday night in southeast Fresno.

When police responded to the call around 6:30 p.m., they found a 59-year-old man covered in blood at Torrey Ridge Apartments on the 200 block of South Clovis Avenue. Officers performed CPR on the man, who has not been named, but he died at the scene, police said.

Officers immediately detained 25-year-old Peter Yang of Fresno for the shooting, and he was booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of murder. Detectives said they believe he shot his father "over issues the two had together."

The gun used in the shooting belonged to Yang and was recovered, said Fresno police Lt. Mark Salazar. Yang had no prior criminal history, Salazar said, and there were no phone calls to the family's apartment prior to the shooting.

Fresno police Sgt. Mike Smith said Friday that several children were placed into protective custody as police looked for their families.
