Kaiser Permanente Fresno provided a $7,500 sponsorship to the Foundation for Central Unified School District's summer school reading program. The schools include Harvest and Herndon-Barstow elementaries and Central East High.

Fig Garden Woman's Club donated a total of $6,000 to the following local organizations: Blue Star Moms, Boys & Girls Club of Fresno County, Community Food Bank, Fresno Art Museum, Fresno Council on Child Abuse Prevention, Fresno Rescue Mission, Hinds Hospice Pediatric Palliative Care Project, Holy Cross Women's Shelter, Marjaree Mason Center, Mental Health Systems at the Hacienda, Mollie's House, Children's Hospital Child Abuse Center, Poverello House, the Sierra Chamber Opera, The Silent Garden at Fresno State and the libraries at Del Mar and Powers-Ginsburg elementary schools.


Assemblyman Jim Patterson named Fresno State students Navreet Kaur Mahal and Touyee Thao and Clovis East High School student Macy Perry as the 23rd Assembly District Agriculture Science Students of the Year. The students were chosen for their dedication to the future of agriculture in the Central Valley.

New Faces

Judy Soper joined JP Marketing as a media buyer. She has a bachelor of arts in business administration and more than 24 years of experience as a media planner and buyer in local, regional and national markets.

Larry Hodges has joined Waddell & Reed as district branch manager/financial adviser. He earned a master's degree from Fresno Pacific University.

K. Poncho Baker has joined the law firm of Klein, DeNatale, Goldner, Cooper, Rosenlieb & Kimball as a new partner. He brings more than 20 years of legal experience and will focus his practice on labor and employment and employment litigation.


Brice Yocum has been promoted to executive director at Fresno Pacific University's network of regional centers. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Fresno State and a law degree from Pepperdine University. He also did graduate study in human resources management at Chapman University and consults on many issues with for-profit and nonprofit firms.

Ron Norman has been promoted to national account sales manager at Baldwin Filters, headquartered in Kearney, Neb. He has 16 years of experience and will be based in Clovis.

Lance-Kashian & Co. has promoted the following: Brian Liscano, lease administrator; Maria Sandoval, controller; Eric Peterson, director of leasing, and Rachelle Dunne, property manager of River Park Shopping Center.

John Fitzer has been promoted as permanent vice president of the Madera and Oakhurst Centers by the Board of Trustees of the State Center Community College District.

Central Valley Community Bank has added executive vice president level to its organization. The four promoted from senior vice president include: David A. Kinross, executive vice president, chief financial officer; Gary D. Quisenberry, executive vice president, commercial and business banking; Lydia E. Shaw, executive vice president, community banking and Thomas L. Sommer, executive vice president, chief credit officer.
