Red Cross opens shelter for Hunters Valley wildfire evacuees

The Fresno BeeJune 6, 2014

The American Red Cross Central Valley Region has opened a shelter to help residents from the Hunters Valley area who were evacuated from their homes Friday night in Mariposa County.

The shelter is located at the Catheys Valley Baptist Church, 4565 Cornetts Entrance Road.

Red Cross volunteers are on hand to provide the evacuees with lodging, food and comfort kits while firefighters work to contain the blaze.

Just last week Red Cross volunteers responded to the Hunters Fire in the same area by setting up a shelter. Evacuees and their pets were assisted for several days before evacuation orders were lifted.
