Students are 'Consuls for a Day' in Fresno

The Fresno BeeJune 5, 2014

Outstanding students from four local elementary schools in the Fresno Unified School District were given proclamations and made "Consuls for a Day" by the Consul of Mexico Vicente Sanchez Ventura, at the Consulate of Mexico in Fresno, Thursday.

Under the new program, students with outstanding leadership and academic achievement are received as guests of honor, taking part in the new "Consul for a Day" program, experiencing what it would be like to represent a foreign country.

The students toured the consulate facility, participated in a news conference and media interviews, and had a question-and-answer session with Consul Sanchez Ventura.
