Grizzlies Report 6/4: Fresno gets a breather before series in Vegas

The Fresno BeeJune 4, 2014

Breather: It was an off-day Wednesday for Fresno and the rest of the Pacific Coast League, with the Grizzlies back in action for a four-game series at Las Vegas beginning Thursday night.

Season series: The 51s lead 7-5, but after taking 6 of 8 to start the year, they saw the Grizzlies win 3 of 4 when the teams last met May 19-22.

Up next: LH Mike Kickham (3-5, 4.61 ERA) is expected to get the start against 51s RH Noah Syndergaard (5-2, 4.02), the New York Mets' top pitching prospect, at 7:05 p.m. The Mets had a scare when Syndergaard was sent to the DL last week with what was said to be a flexor pronator strain in his right elbow, but an MRI found no structural damage. Fresno probables for the rest of the series are RH Chris Heston on Friday, RH Mitch Lively on Saturday and LH Edwin Escobar on Sunday.
