Police: Getaway on bicycle fizzles for armed suspect in Mendota

The Fresno BeeJune 4, 2014

Police say an armed Mendota man was arrested after he tried to flee on a bicycle, then crashed into a parked car.

Arturo Delgado, 37, was seen by officers Tuesday night riding a bicycle in a manner that violated state vehicle code. After crashing into the car, he struggled with police and officers saw a gun in his pants pocket, police said. Officers prevented him from reaching the gun and arrested him.

Delgado also was in possession of 62 grams of methamphetamine, police said, and has a criminal record for firearms related convictions.
