Fresno County judge: Gamoian, Hill head to runoff

In the only Fresno Superior Court judges race of the primary election, Fresno County deputy district attorney Lisa Gamoian and Rachel Hill, a former deputy district attorney, are headed to a November runoff after the first count of all ballots was finished early Wednesday morning.

The race is to replace retiring Judge Robert Oliver,

Gamoian led with 34.5%. Hill got 29.0%.

The three remaining candidates for judge -- Steven Smith, Charles Magill and Jarrett Cline -- trailed with each getting less than 20% of the votes.

Gamoian said Tuesday night that her campaign will continue to focus on public safety in the coming months. Hill did not return phone messages Tuesday night requesting comment.
