Central California SPCA will hold an adoption event Saturday at the River Park Shopping Center in north Fresno.

The mobile unit will be in the shopping center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as a part of Rachael Ray's $100K Challenge -- a contest among 50 U.S. shelters to save more dogs and cats this summer than they did in 2013. The local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals shelter's goal is to save more than 2,800.

Adoption fees are $28.80 through Sunday. All adoptions include spay or neuter, de-worming, vaccines, a microchip, a Fresno city dog license and flea treatment.

For more information, call Central California SPCA at (559) 233-7722, ext. 107 or email adoptions@ccspca.com.

The reporter can be reached at (559) 441-6659 or kelwood@fresnobee.com.
