SMG Holdings, which manages Fresno State's Save Mart Center, is buying Premier Food Services, a company that provides food and beverage services at venues across Southern California.

SMG's parent company, American Capital Ltd., announced the acquisition of San Diego-based Premier on Tuesday. Premier, founded in 1985, has a roster of clients including state universities, aerospace and tech firms, and the Del Mar thoroughbred horse-racing track.

The acquisition "provides SMG with an attractive opportunity to expand its food service offering outside of its core portfolio of arenas, stadiums and convention centers into business dining, schools and colleges, fairgrounds and off-premise catering," said American Capital's senior managing director Brian Graff.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In addition to managing the Save Mart Center, SMG also provides food services for the arena through its SAVOR concessions and catering division. Among more than 230 other SMG-managed venues are the Fresno Convention Center, Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Soldier Field in Chicago, the Moscone Center in San Francisco and McCormick Place convention center in Chicago.
