Members of the Clovis Community Band will leave Sunday for Normandy, France, where they will join four other bands for a concert commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

Band leader Dan Lindstrom said that 28 of the band's 75 members will leave the Clovis Veterans Memorial Building at 8 a.m. and head to San Francisco for a flight to France.

The band was recommended for the ensemble by one of its guest conductors, Gary Deeter.

Col. Arnald D. Gabriel, a Normandy veteran and the conductor emeritus for the United States Air Force band, will conduct the hundreds of ensemble musicians.

The Clovis Community Band will also play a few shows by itself in England and France.
