Suspect identified in bizarre double murder in Reedley

Eloy Romero Jr.

The search continues for a 25-year-old man suspected of murdering two people in Reedley, Fresno County sheriff's detective Jody Flores said.

The California Highway Patrol responded to what was reported as a single-vehicle traffic accident on May 12 at Buttonwillow and Jefferson avenues. The vehicle was traveling south on Buttonwillow before it veered off the road and crashed into a tree. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office took over the investigation when it was determined that the two occupants died by homicide, not by traffic accident.

Flores identified Eloy Romero Jr. as a suspect in the murders. Romero was described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 6 inches, 135 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous.
