Gianna Manfredo is a first grader at Quail Lake Environmental Charter School.

DIANA BALDRICA

At age 7 Gianna is already running circles around others when it comes to her list of achievements.

The top of a list — competing in last year's Color Me Rad 5K run with her mom, Jill.

"She had to keep up with me!" Gianna said.

If running wasn't enough to expend her energy, Gianna also takes part in jazz, cheer, gymnastics, swimming and is learning how to snow ski. As for a more relaxed outdoors activity, there's always fishing with her dad, Jeff.

Meanwhile, inside the classroom, Gianna is a 4.0 GPA student with a number of awards — a math whiz, reader of the month and student of the month to name a few.

"She has just been a great, all-round student," said Gianna's teacher, Catalina Hamel. "Right at the beginning of the year, I could tell she was going to be really polite and very respectful."

A Science Olympiad and Peach Blossom Festival performer — in which she earned a Superior rating — Gianna has already proven she's a natural competitor, Hamel said.

With aspirations to become a nurse, Gianna is already proving her willingness to help others by community service through donations and volunteer work at her church.

"I know I can always count on her to help if someone else is struggling," Hamel said. "I can definitely count on her to be a good role model for other students."
