Gang member arrested in Fresno homicide

The Fresno BeeMay 28, 2014

A gang member was arrested Wednesday in the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man in southeast Fresno in early April, police said.

Darrin Washington, 30, was taken into custody at a home in the 4500 block of East Garland Avenue. Following a search of the home, police also found a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

Police said Washington, an East Lane Crip gang member, was identified by detectives as the suspect in the killing of Rontrell Craig Sr., who was shot April 5 in the 300 block of South Winery Avenue. Police said Craig and Washington knew each other and had a disagreement leading to the gunfire.

Washington was booked into the Fresno County Jail on one count of homicide and for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
