The California Health Sciences University College of Pharmacy in Clovis has received a $75,000 donation from Walgreens.

The donation will be used for the college's Pharmacy Practice Laboratory.

"As the role of pharmacists continue to expand and evolve, it is important for Walgreens to support education that focuses on advancing the practice of pharmacy," said Bryan Garcia, pharmacy supervisor for Walgreens.

The college's Doctor of Pharmacy program is a four-year, post-baccalaureate program. Applications are being accepted for the first cohort of students that start in August 2014.

Construction of the "Walgreens Pharmacy Practice Lab" will begin next month and is expected to be complete in early August, before classes start.
