The 2-year-old girl found floating unconscious in her family's swimming pool Wednesday morning is on life support, said Chris Curtice, a spokesman for the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

She was rushed to a hospital Wednesday morning after she was found unconscious in the pool, the Fresno Fire Department reported.

Deputies responded to the drowning call in northwest Fresno shortly after 10:30 a.m. at a residence on the 500 block of West Bullard Avenue, Curtice said.

An investigation revealed the toddler -- who has not been named -- had been found floating in the pool by a family member, Curtice said.

"As the family member removed the child from the pool, her screams alerted neighbors who responded by jumping the fence to help," Curtice said. "The two neighbors started CPR on the toddler until emergency crews arrived and took over."

The girl was initially taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center, and then transported to Children's Hospital Central California, Curtice said.

The investigation is ongoing.
