Flags laid on veterans' graves stolen from Clovis cemeteries

The Fresno BeeMay 28, 2014

Dozens of American flags laid on veterans' graves were reported stolen from two Clovis cemeteries over Memorial Day weekend.

David Paul Davenport, 63, of Fresno, said he placed 91 flags in Redbank Cemetery on Sunday, then returned Tuesday to find only three remaining.

In addition to his stolen flags, Davenport said Clovis Cemetery District also had flags stolen from Redbank Cemetery and Academy Cemetery on Saturday night.

Davenport, who is not a veteran, said laying the flags was the least he could to do to honor those that had served their country.
