Prep volleyball: Clovis West falls in five in SoCal Regional

The fifth-seeded Clovis West High boys volleyball team lost the final three sets and was eliminated 3-2 in a SoCal Regional D-II quarterfinal at No. 4 South Pasadena on Tuesday night.

"They started serving tougher, had a couple big hitters who started swinging well, played a lot more scrappy and took over," said coach Bob McCarthy of the Golden Eagles, who lost 24-26, 19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-13 to finish the season 25-11.

Clovis West seniors playing well to close their prep careers were Sean Smith (15 kills), Trent Brasell (13 kills, three blocks), Benjamin Karahadian (seven kills, seven blocks) and Mitchell Kimura (38 assists).
