Visalia transit bus crashes near school

The Fresno BeeMay 27, 2014

A Visalia transit bus veered off the road and crashed near Hurley Elementary School Tuesday afternoon, Visalia Police Sgt. Ozzie Dominguez said.

There was a report of one injury from the accident -- a woman having an anxiety attack -- but otherwise the four passengers were able to walk off the bus, Dominguez said.

Police received initial reports that the bus struck a tree and a brick wall in the 6600 block of West Hurley Avenue.

The collision caused damage to utilities, Dominguez said, and electric and gas companies were called to the scene.

Nearby, Hurley Elementary School was placed on lock down for precaution, Dominguez said.
