An armed parolee who tried to evade police by breaking into a home was taken into custody early Tuesday in southeast Fresno.

Police Sgt. Chris Serrano said officers made contact with Jason Oeschger, 35, about 2 a.m. in the 4100 block of East Washington Avenue. Oeschger fled by jumping over several fences and tried to open a locked window at the home. Officers searched yard to yard and took Oeschger into custody.

Serrano said a firearm was found in a nearby yard.

Oeschger is reported to be a Sanger Bulldog gang member. He was booked into jail on a parole violation and a firearms charge.
