Victim shot twice in central Fresno gang-related shooting

The Fresno BeeMay 26, 2014

One man was hit twice in a drive-by, gang-related shooting Monday afternoon in central Fresno, police Lt. Mike Doyle said.

The man was standing outside the front gate of Pleasant View Apartments, 3513 Pleasant Ave., just south of Dakota Avenue, when a muddy black Chevrolet Avalanche drove by carrying four African-American occupants. One of the passengers fired more than five shots, Doyle said, with two of those shots hitting the victim in the lower left side of his body.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center by ambulance and was conscious and talking, but wouldn't give police many details about what happened, Doyle said. Though he said the shooting was gang-related, Doyle could not identify which gangs were involved.

Police are seeking the public's help to find the vehicle involved in the shooting. Police are collecting witness accounts, including an account from one female who fled the scene to avoid being shot.
