The Buchanan High boys volleyball team, ranked No. 3 in the state and nation by MaxPreps with a 33-4 record, was awarded the No. 2 seed in the Southern California Division I regional bracket by the California Interscholastic Federation on Sunday.

The Bears will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a regional first-round match against No. 7 seed Dana Hills-Dana Point (21-12) at Buchanan.

The Dolphins are ranked No. 28 in the state and lost to Division II regional top-seed Corona Del Mar of Newport Beach in the Southern Section quarterfinals.

Clovis West (25-10) was seeded fifth in the D-II Southern California regional and will play at No. 4 seed South Pasadena (20-2), also of the Southern Section.

The Bears swept the Eagles 3-0 in the Central Section D-I final last week to win their third Valley championship in four years.

Buchanan will have home court advantage through the regional semifinals, if they win Tuesday's match.

Huntington Beach, at 36-0 and top-ranked in California and the country by MaxPreps, was awarded the No. 1 seed in D-I SoCal bracket.
