The Fresno BeeMay 23, 2014

Caltrans will spend a little over $1 million of the $541 million "Fix-It First" budget to repair and upgrade highways 41 and 180 in Fresno, a spokeswoman said.

The funds will go toward replacing metal beam guardrails with concrete median barriers, adding new concrete barriers and upgrading curbs on six freeway ramp locations, spokeswoman Tami Conrado said.

The "Fix-It First" budget was established to preserve and maintain California's 50,000 lane miles of highways.
