How they got here: Defeated Diablo Valley, Sierra, Chabot

The skinny: It's been a while since COS last won the state championship. Under Roy Taylor, COS swept San Diego in best-of-three finals in '57, winning 4-1 and 6-5 in Visalia. From 1950-77, the championship was a best-of-three and annually alternated between North and South sites, with a couple of exceptions. ... Giants were led for most of season by ace Dylan Lee (13-0, 2.35 ERA) but the left-hander missed the sectional and is questionable for this weekend with a side injury. ... Giants enter with the highest ERA among finalists at 4.09. ... Reliever Gene Cachu is 8-1 in 22 appearances and Blake Edmonson has state-best 16 saves and 1.32 ERA. ... Top hitters include Ross Feeley (.376, 6 2B, 41 RBIs) and Dillon Kelley (.368, 11 2B, 2 HR and 41 RBIs).... Today's starter is to be determined.

ORANGE COAST PIRATES

How they got here: Defeated El Camino, Allan Hancock, Southwestern

The skinny: Orange Coast enters on 12-game winning streak and if it wins the championship, would tie Fresno City, Sacramento, Long Beach and Cypress with five each. Cerritos (nine) leads way. ... Pirates catcher Daniel Delaney saw limited action action for Fresno State last season before transferring. ... OCC leads state in triples ( 24) and ranks fourth in average (.310). ... Top hitters include Cody Nulph (.409, 17 2B, 30 RBIs) and Chris Iriart (.319, 6 2B, 2 3B, 9 HR and 31 RBIs). ... Pirates staff is powered by Art Vidro (7-3, 2.32 ERA), who will start today, and twins David Hill (10-1, 1.61 ERA) and Jacob Hill (10-0, 1.29 ERA). ... Team ERA is 1.91.

How they got here: Defeated East Los Angeles, Los Angeles Pierce, Santa Barbara

The skinny: Condors last played in state finals in 1985, when format had eight teams (four North, four South) compete in double-elimination format. ... Condors enter with .289 average, led by Ryan Tinkham (.360, 4 HR, 29 RBIs) but he's missed past six with injury. Lineup still has Julian Ramon (.371, 28 RBIs), Dustyn Cook (.310, 21 RBIs) and Ryan Webberly (.298, 17 2B, 25 RBIs). ... Patrick Weigel (5-2, 3.00) has topped 100 mph on several occasions this season. ... Hawaii-bound Luke Eubank (12-0, 0.69) will get the start today.

SAN JOAQUIN DELTA MUSTANGS

How they got here: Defeated Fresno City, Marin, Santa Rosa

The skinny: In 1959, Stockton College (now San Joaquin Delta) won state title under coach Smokey Cates after dropping first game against San Diego 3-2, then winning 7-3 and 3-2 in Stockton. Mustangs did not get to championship again until 2011, when they beat Ohlone 4-1 -- only the third time it was an all-NorCal final. ... Wyatt Castro (.404, 18 2B, 5 3B, 5 HR, 35 RBIs) leads offense along with C.J. Owens (.315, 10 2B, 32 RBIs). ... Phillip Clark has 17 steals. ... On the mound, Matt Valencia -- who signed with Hawaii -- takes 10-2 record, 2.11 ER into start today. Sam Held (Nevada), Alex Lott (Nevada), Brennon Williams (Fresno State), Sean Bennetts (UOP) round out staff.
