Former Fresno Bee manager Ken Riddick has been named president and publisher of The Modesto Bee.

Riddick, 57, is the regional vice president of digital media and marketing for The Charlotte Observer in North Carolina and The Herald in Rock Hill, S.C., both McClatchy-owned newspapers. At The Modesto Bee, Riddick replaces another former Fresno Bee manager, Eric Johnston, who left The Modesto Bee in March. Riddick begins his new assignment June 9.

Riddick first joined McClatchy in 1995 as a photo editor at The Fresno Bee, and he served as The Fresno Bee's director of interactive media from 1999-2003.

His wife, Catherine, was an editor at The Fresno Bee during the same 1995-2003 stint.
