A 13-year-old Atascadero boy who went missing, and was thought to be headed to Hanford, was located Thursday afternoon by officials and was being reunited with his grandparents.

Atascadero police Cmdr. Joe Allen said that Jeremiah Austin Valdez had been located at a local junior high school after making a number of posts to his Facebook account. Allen said Valdez also made contact with someone at the school, who also contacted authorities.

It was not immediately clear where the juvenile was since Monday, went he became a missing person.

The teen was considered "at-risk" because he was believed to be without needed medication. Authorities initially thought he might try to get to Hanford, which is where his mother lives.
