A man died in a crash on Highway 41 east of Riverdale Monday afternoon after the car he was driving spun out of control and hit a big rig traveling in the opposite direction, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred south of Laguna Avenue around 4:45 p.m. and caused highway closures for over two hours, Sgt. Joseph Bianchi said.

The car was traveling north when it lost control and collided with the southbound rig.
