Report of armed man at Fresno's Kaiser hospital unfounded

A report of a distraught man possibly with a gun sent Fresno police scrambling to Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center on Monday morning.

The man was located, unarmed, at a nearby restaurant, police Lt. Don Gross said. The man had a firearm in his vehicle, and police took the weapon in accordance with the state welfare and institutions code, Gross said.

The incident was reported to police about 10 a.m. from the hospital, located near Herndon Avenue and Fresno Street.
