Hoover teacher plans Chinese summer class

Hoover High teacher Elaine Yen's Chinese Language and Culture Academy will be held June 16 to July 3.

The program is open to students in grades 5-12 and costs $30. It includes learning Chinese Mandarin language and culture, as well as Chinese martial arts, dance, painting, calligraphy and cooking. There also will be a field trip to the San Francisco Asian Museum and Chinatown.

Class is weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Students can earn five units of elective credit, Yen said. The deadline to apply is June 4. For more information, call Yen at (559) 451-4000 ext. 12107 or email elaine.yen@fresnounified.org.
