A grove of yellowing trees is seen below Half Dome in Yosemite National Park Tuesday, November 5, 2013. The changing of the seasons is well underway at the park.

The Half Dome cables that allow hikers to reach the top of the iconic Yosemite National Park feature will be ready to use Friday, a week earlier than expected.

Permits to use the cables are required, and the chance to get a permit opens at 10 a.m. Wednesday online-only, the park announced. Go here for more details.
