The Fresno Grizzlies and the Gar and Esther Tootelian Charitable Foundation awarded two scholarships Friday night to two local high school seniors who will pursue degrees in agricultural fields, said Grizzlies spokesman Ryan Young.

Tristan Rollin of Riverdale High School was named the winner of the first Gar and Esther Tootelian Charitable Foundation Farm Grown Scholarship. His $1,000 scholarship will help him attend Purdue University in the fall, where he will study agricultural engineering.

Emma Larson of Hanford and Lemoore Union High School was the honorable mention finalist and won a $500 scholarship. She plans to obtain an agricultural communications degree at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.

The winners threw out the first pitch at Grizzlies Ag Night on Friday evening and were presented with their scholarship checks.
